Icons

Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau

The tenor Mark Padmore has long been inspired by the vocal mastery of the German bass-baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, who, more than anyone, placed the songs of Schubert at the heart of the recital repertoire.

Fischer-Dieskau's iconic legacy is revealed through recordings of Schubert made soon after his release from a prisoner-of-war camp, and from his association with Gerald Moore, as well as through interpretations of Bach, Wagner and Schumann.
