BBC Proms Chamber Music 2004

Concert 1

Another chance to hear the first concert in this season's lunchtime series.

Two composer anniversaries are celebrated with two chamber music masterpieces in the opening of this season's lunchtime series from the V&A, London.

The distinctive musical voice of Janacek is in powerful and mercurial mood for a quartet based on Tolstoy's tragic novella The Kreutzer Sonata, while the abundant lycricism of Dvorak's maturity shines through his glorious quintet which mines the rich vein of Czech folk music.

Presented by Stephanie Hughes.

Jana Lukasova (violin)
Radim Sedmidubsky (viola)
Peter Jarusek (cello)
Itamar Golan (piano)
