In his monumental 3rd Symphony, Mahler attempted to create an all-encompassing work of art, reflecting the entire world through the elements of Nature, Man, God and Love. For their first of two ambitious concerts at this year's Proms, The Cleveland Orchestra under its now well-established music director, devotes itself to this epic hymn to the universe.
