In 2008, music presenter, writer and producer Suzy Klein becomes the new face of the revamped BBC2 Proms, bringing to classical music the same fresh and unstuffy approach usually reserved for pop. Having worked for more than ten years on the other side of the camera, she made her screen debut in 2005 as a reporter on the Proms and as music critic on BBC2's Culture Show, later that year winning acclaim as one of The Guardian's 25 up-and-coming cultural figures.

Suzy has presented widely on TV and radio on classical, jazz and world music. Her TV work includes co-presenting The Young Musician of the Year Final live on BBC2 and presenting operas for BBC Television. For radio, she has presented Radio 3’s Breakfast Show, ‘Afternoon on 3’, and a wide range of live concerts and evening broadcasts for the station. During the summer of 2008, she will be presenting more live music and chairing a series of lively panel discussions and talks for Radio 3.

Suzy has done a broad range of voiceover work, from BBC1 primetime docs on Pink Floyd and The Carpenters to a three-part series on Brazil and a forthcoming Arts TV series for BBC4. As well as a passion for music of all sorts, her interests include books, film and the visual arts. Since 2006, she has written features and reviews for the New Statesman on everything from mobile ringtones to how a former Pogue has redefined contemporary music.

Suzy read Music at Oxford University where she gained first class honours. While at Oxford, she directed short films and helped to set up the radio station Oxygen FM. She later trained as a broadcast journalist at City University in London, winning the William Hardcastle Prize for Journalism and travelling to Canada to work as a presenter with CBC radio and TV. She worked for several years in BBC production on a range of arts and music programmes including Start the Week, Close Up, Loose Ends, Music Matters and Late Review. Most recently she worked as a producer in BBC Classical Music TV where she wrote and produced documentaries, drama-docs and live events.
