Tom Service presents the world premiere performance of Judith Weir's Concrete, commissioned by the BBC for the occasion. Taking the Barbican itself as its inspiration, this is a large-scale work for chorus, narrator and orchestra, subtitled 'a motet about London'.

Also on the programme is Weir's Moon and Star; a performance of a piece by a composer who Weir cites as a big influence on her own work - Michael Finnissy; highlights of the BBC Symphony Orchestra's learning projects over the weekend, and a look back over 21 years of the BBC Symphony Orchestra's January Composer Weekend.
