Celebrating Mozart

Mozart and Stravinsky

Thursday 21 April 2005 13:00-14:10 (Radio 3)

Today’s concert celebrating Mozart’s music alongside the works of Chopin is given by the British pianist Christian Blackshaw.

Mozart wrote his sonata in F in 1788 – two movements wedded to a Rondo which he had composed two years earlier.

Its dramatic tension matches well the moods of Chopin’s preludes, written against the backdrop of a stormy summer and an equally tempestuous relationship with George Sand.

Introduced by Claire English

1 hour 10 minutes
