In the month of Steve Reich's 70th birthday, tonights concert celebrates the sheer excitement and overwhelming energy of the American composer's music. Synergy Vocals and Stefan Asbury have become acclaimed champions of Reich's You Are (Variations), a 27-minute exploration of human existence, consciousness and ethics first heard at Walt Disney Hall, Los Angeles in 2004. Tehillim, the Hebrew word for praises or psalms, creates what Reich describes as music that may "be heard as traditional and new at the same time".
