What's British about art?
Or English about music? Or European about an art form, for that matter...?
Why are we applying old-fashioned national criteria to abstract ideas? Is it an upsurge of nationalism that prompts us to acclaim Young British Artists and New British Cinema? Or are the old passport categories a cover for rampant confusions in a multicultural society? What, exactly, is British about a sculpture, a symphony or a song, and why?
