16 March 2006

Thursday 16 March 2006 17:00-19:30 (Radio 3)

The folk group Lost Music of the Gaels opens proceedings with a fusion of traditional and classical music.

After 6 o'clock Sean is joined by virtuoso Baroque violinist Rachel Podger.

Later in the programme Sean interviews celebrated minimalist composer Steve Reich, now in his 70th year, ahead of the UK premiere of his 'Variations for Vibes, Piano and Strings' at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

Also there's news of the English National Opera's 2006-2007 season including some old favourites and some surprises.
