About Sara Mohr-Pietsch

Sara joined Radio 3 in 2005, after winning a BBC Talent competition. She has been presenting Breakfast since 2007, and is also a regular voice on Hear & Now and the BBC Proms, which she has also presented for BBC4 TV. In January 2011, she hosted her own late-night request show, Play Mozart For Me, part of Radio 3’s Genius of Mozart series.

Sara’s musical interests are incredibly wide-ranging. Since a young age, she’s been a lover of early music – but she also has a passion for new work, and has interviewed many of today’s leading composers for Hear & Now.

Born in London in 1980, Sara studied music at Cambridge, graduating with First Class Honours, and completed a Masters in musicology at Edinburgh University, where she also taught. She went on to work in arts administration for the BBC Proms and Edinburgh International Festival, where she helped deliver their long-standing education programme, Connecting to Music. She also worked on two education projects for the Berlin Philharmonic.

Alongside her broadcasting work, Sara presents pre-concert talks and events for ensembles, festivals and opera companies (including the London Sinfonietta, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, Glyndebourne Opera, Royal Opera House, Spitalfields Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Dartington International Summer School).

She also narrates audio guides for various art galleries, including Tate Modern, the Royal Academy of Arts and the National Gallery.

Sara lives in central London. Alongside music, her passions include food, Scandinavian crime drama, and insight meditation.
