My Lady Rich

Sunday 20 April 2008 0:00-1:00 (Radio 3)

Lucie Skeaping talks to singer Emily van Evera about her recent disc entitled My Lady Rich. Its subject, Penelope Rich, was one of Queen Elizabeth I's ladies-in-waiting and sister to the Queen's favoured Earl of Essex, and it has been said she was a muse to poets and musicians alike, inspiring music by noted composers of Elizabethan England. With songs and instrumental pieces by John Dowland, Charles Tessier, William Byrd, Anthony Holborne, John Coprario, Robert Jones and John Bartlet.

This is a repeat of a previously broadcast programme.  View details.
