Oxford University in the 16th and 17th Centuries had a very distinguished list of musical alumni - John Bull, Thomas Weekes, Morely and Tomkins among them. Andrew Manze investigates the importance of academe to the music of this period and in particular the patronage of William Heather, whose name is still linked to an Oxford professorship.

This is a repeat of the programme broadcast on Saturday 17 June 2006. See full details.
