![]() Classical music in its infinite variety was celebrated at this year’s RPS Music Awards. The winner of Radio 3 Listeners Award 2005 is Sir Charles Mackerras 'for consistently distinguished performances, whether in Dvorak with the Czech Philharmonic at the BBC Proms, or reviving Martinu's The Greek Passion at the Royal Opera House, or Weber's Der Freischütz at the Edinburgh Festival, or in performances of Janacek that provided the climax of Radio 3's Janacek Day.' The RPS Music Awards event took place at London's Dorchester Hotel on on May 11. Listen to the Keynote Speech Theatre director Jude Kelly gave a powerful keynote speech about the importance of making the Arts available to everyone, introduced by Tony Fell, Chairman of the RPS.
