Pianothon back for 2009!

Hosted by Radio 3's Sarah Walker, the Pianothon, a non-competitive celebration of amateur piano-playing, was held in The Clothworkers Concert Hall, University of Leeds on Saturday 12th September 2009.

Amateur pianists, of all ages and abilities, took part in the Pianothon playing repertoire ranging from a simple keyboard melody to a Transcendental Study by Liszt. All performances were recorded for the Pianothon website - and some will even be broadcast on Radio 3, at a later date.

University of Leeds With the Pianothon held on the same day as the Finals of the Leeds International Piano Competition, the 12th September 2009 was set to be a red letter day for pianists and pianophiles. Pianothon host, Sarah Walker said:

Piano "Radio 3’s Pianothon is a wonderfully creative and inclusive way of celebrating the joy of making music at the piano.
