![]() Antoine Tamestit (viola) Nationality: French Places of study: Paris Conservatory & Yale University (U.S.A.). Teachers include: Jean Sulem, Jesse Levine & Tabea Zimmermann. Prizes/Accolades: Fulbright Scholarship from the Franco-American Commission, as well as a Lavoisier Scholarship from the Ministère des Affaires Étrangères to study at Yale University (USA) First Prize at the Maurice Vieux Competition (Paris, 2000), as well as First Prize at the William Primrose Competition (Chicago, 2001). Young Concert Artists International Auditions (2004), Rising Stars programme of the European Concert Halls Organization (ECHO) (2005-6 season). Most recenty, Antoine has won 1st prize in the ARD competition in Munich; in addition he carried off the audience prize, the prize of the Munich Chamber Orchestra for the best Mozart interpretation, and the prize for the best interpretation of the new work by David Sawer. Recent highlights include: A passionate chamber musician, he is a regular guest at prestigious festivals like Lockenhaus, Kronberg or Jérusalem, where he has worked with artists such as Gidon Kremer, Emmanuel Pahud, Boris Pergamenshikow, and Jean-Guihen Queyras. As a soloist, Antoine has worked with the Munich and Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. In April 2005, he made his debut at the Berlin Konzerthaus with the Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester and during a tour in summer 2005, Antoine performed Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante under Emmanuel Krivine and La Chambre Philharmonique. Future performances include: Concerto recordings with BBC orchestras throughout the UK, plus recital engagements including a debut performance at London's Wigmore Hall in October 2005. His work with the German pianist Markus Hadulla has lead him to master a large sonata repertoire, and during the 2005/06 season they will tour prestigious halls like the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Vienna Musikverein, Carnegie Hall, and the Cité de la Musique de Paris, as part of the ECHO Rising Star programme.
