The quartet studied with the Ysaye Quartet in Paris , and with Walter Levine at the Bale and Lübeck Academies.

Prizes:
Best Group of the Year in 'Victoires de la Musique Classique' (2005)
4th prize at the London International String Quartet Competition (2000)
3rd prize in the Osaka International Competition
2nd prize at the Vittorio Gui International Competition in Florence
Special award from the Mozarteum in Salzburg
Premier Grand Prix and the International Press Award at the International String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux (2001)

They have also been awarded the Serge Den Arend Prize for the best performance of Mozart, the Maurice Ohana Prize, and the Société Générale prize.

The quartet received a grant from the Proquartet Association in connection with the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, and they have enjoyed generous support for all its activities from the Société Générale (who have loaned Bleuenn le Maître a 1796 Joseph Gagliano violin), SPEDIDAM, Mairie de Paris, Musique Nouvelle en Liberté and AFAA.

Recent performances include:
The Psophos Quartet, whose name is derived from the Greek for 'sonic event', was founded in 1997.

The quartet made a recording of Mendelssohn's String Quartets Op.80 and Op.44 No.1 to great critical acclaim (August 2003).

Its recording of Ohana's String Quartets (November 2004) also received awards including Le Monde de la Musique (CHOC), Diapason and Classical Répertoire.

Future Plans:
The Psophos Quartet will launch its own chamber music series at the Athénée in the Théâtre Louis-Jouvet in Paris (October 2006).

Two new albums, one of music by Dvorak, and the other to Nicolas Bacri will be released in Autumn 2006.
