New Generation Artists on Radio 3, Christmas 2009

As the New Generation Artists scheme enters its second decade, the annual fortnight of early-evening showcases has become something of a Christmas tradition on Radio 3.

This year, nine weekday early-evening programmes of specially-recorded studio and concert performances offer a chance to get to know the latest recruits, as well as hear from artists already on the scheme.

In repertoire ranging from songs by Mozart and Ibert to harpsichord pieces by Sweelinck and Duphly, and from quartets by Haydn and Bartók to piano music by Prokofiev, Chopin and Debussy, an outstanding crop of artists and ensembles reveal the extent of their talents.
