When Sir John Eliot Gardiner first embarked on his Bach Cantata Pilgrimage in 2000, he had no real idea of what to expect.
He started out at Christmas in Weimar, and by the end of the year, at Christmas time in New York, had performed all of Bach’s Cantatas for Feast Days on the correct day of the liturgical year.
