Mikhail Pletnev
Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev first became known in the West as one of the world's great pianists after he won the 1978 Tchaikovsky Competition. But Pletnev is not only a supreme master of keyboard tone-colours and sonority; he has also became known as a remarkable conductor ever since he founded the Russian National Orchestra in 1990.
