On location in Algeria

Monday 11 June 2007 23:15-1:00 (Radio 3)

Torn apart by civil war, Algeria has been off limits for many years. With the situation improving, Andy presents a special on-location programme, including sessions recorded all over the country.

He gets to the heart of Rai music in the port town of Oran, visits the famous Kasbah in Algiers, and ventures deep into the Sahara Desert. Plus in Tlemcen he attends the first solo performance in Algeria by French-Algerian superstar Rachid Taha.
