Background
November 1966 was a landmark moment for public awareness of social inequality and homelessness in Britain; the BBC screened the ground-breaking film ‘Cathy Come Home’ and the first national homelessness charity, Shelter, was established. Both events combined to bring the problem of poverty and poor housing into the public eye for first time.
Forty years on, the BBC is broadcasting a series of programmes which examines homelessness and poverty today. For more information you can visit the BBC No Home website
