Through Time 2 Share we hope to recruit Radio 2 listeners to work for and with the nation's charities and organisations, as well as making a difference to local communities.
So if you're interested in using your free time to do something that may help your community, a school, a charity, an organisation, or a single individual, then read on for more information about how you can get involved in Time 2 Share with Radio 2!
Registration - How your details are used.
1. You sign up to become a volunteer through registering here.
2. Your details are collected by TimeBank, our Partner in this campaign who will match you to volunteering opportunities available in your area.
3. TimeBank will pass your details on to local Volunteer Centres who will contact you by email and post about any volunteering opportunities that they have available that might suit you, your interests or your skills.
4. After you've registered, you will be posted a welcome pack from TimeBank and the BBC. This will include a 'TimeGuide' - a booklet about getting the most out of your volunteering experience, helping you to decide what you have to offer and what you want out of giving time.
The TimeGuide will include lots of answers to questions you may have, for example, 'Will I receive training?', 'Who will supervise me and how?', 'Will the organisation want references or run any police checks on me?'
The guide also includes a range of suggestions for areas where you can volunteer. This can include animal charities, education, children, older people, overseas work, addiction, local charity shops and much more. The guide will help you think about the areas that you're passionate about and how you can help other people through your passions, or skills and expertise.
5. Once you've decided what you'd like to do, contact your TimePartner or any of the organisations that are listed in the TimeGuide.
6. If you've 'opted in' by ticking the box on the registration form, TimeBank emails you a monthly newsletter (or quarterly by mail) and occasional Volunteering Updates. You may also receive updates from your local Volunteer Centre.
7. The BBC may also contact you to ask you if you're interested in discussing your experiences in an interview for a programme, and/or online, for the Time 2 Share website.
8. Your details will be held by TimeBank until December 2006 as part of the Time 2 Share campaign. At that time the BBC Time 2 Share campaign will be wrapped up, but you'll be given the opportunity to stay with TimeBank by opting in again, which they will contact you about.
