Soul Solutions Wednesday 2100 - 2200
BIOGRAPHY

Mica Paris began singing in church at the age of ten. At sixteen she recorded her first demos with bass player Paul Powell and joined chart-toppers, "Hollywood Beyond", as a backing vocalist. She toured with them for a year. At the age of seventeen she was signed as an artist in her own right to Island and quickly became one of the first "soul divas" to emerge from the UK. Her debut album "So Good" (1989) went platinum and included the smash hit "You Are My One Temptation". During her long career, Mica has collaborated with many music greats: Prince, Will Downing, Bobby Womack, the Brecker Brothers to name but a few.

As well as her own recording and live performances, Mica has also collaborated on various other exciting projects. She recorded the title track for the Walt Disney movie "High Heels and Lowlifes", starring Minnie Driver and directed by Mel Smith. Her Wigmore Hall concert with jazz pianist Julian Joseph was transmitted on BBC Radio 2. She recently recorded a cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' classic "I Put a Spell on You" with Dave Gilmour and Jools Holland for his duets album released by Warners in December 2001.
