Chris Evans hosted "Bye Bye Drivetime: Hello Breakfast" from the O2 in London, on 11 January 2010. It was unique programme to celebrate the four years on Drivetime before the team moved to Breakfast

There were live performances from The Proclaimers, Stereophonics and Scouting for Girls, as well as interviews with some of the show's favourite guests including Cone Man (who was so popular he featured on the show three days in a row), who arrived with his favourite cone.

Ukulele Lady was there too - she wrote a special tribute to the show; and what would Christmas have been without a touch of Oompah Brass? The lederhosen clad ensemble joined in the fun as well.

Am I the only one to come away somewhat confused after reading the above description about Bye Bye Drivetime: Hello Breakfast? I mean, if the iplayer really can see a day into the future then this is truly fantastic news! Can you start showing tomorrow's racing as well please!

Good luck Chris, you will need some to convert those old Wogan fans. You were made for Drivetime but alas no more. why couldn't Zoe have taken over?

Good luck tomorrow morning, not all us TOGGS think the world will end because you've taken over from Tel. I loved the Drivetime show and am really looking forward to hearing what you do with the breakfast time. Please be gentle, the one thing Terry knew was not all of us are morning people and nothing is more annoying than a relentlessly cheerful person trying to bully you into smiling before that seventh cup of tea. BTW.....well done on having Moira Stewart join the team. I'm dead curiuos to know what that first record is going to be.

Chris I'll miss you - I listened to drivetime while I prepared dinner / cleaned the kitchen etc. I won't be able to hear you in the mornings and I'm sorry I can't add to your numbers. But if it's any consolation I'll be looking for another teatime show to listen to as I was hoping for Richard Allison to follow you. Good Luck Chris - been a fan from the the GLR days, Chris and Carol in the morning! Will Miss You.

A real big sigh here Aunty Beeb. Any chance of Richard Allinson (hope I spelt his surname correctly) running the 5-o-clock slot?
Chris and his team did a stonking job on Johnny Walkers' drivetime piece. Nobody in their right mind would have Simon ( OMG I nearly became interesting) Mayo as anchorman in a primetime position. Boring Simon will lull more drivers with his monotone voice into an accident far easier than taking sleeping pills !!
I challenge death reinvented Mayo to at least smile when he presents the radio show

I wish everybody would stop knocking Chris. After Terry he is the next best thing on the radio. I certainly have a smile on my face first thing in the morning. He's definitely made for the radio!!!!!

The 5pm Drivetime show was not bad - good music and items but often a bit too manic. CE often trying to embarrass or score points against his own radio team (he still does). I was never keen on the Sports/Locker spot, predictable/sycophantic conversation and just too boring.

The CE Morning Show is not bad but still too competitive and manic for me, and the Hello-Goodbye spot is pointless and irritating. Just how many ways can you make the word "Hello" interesting to anyone?

However, CE, you are certainly better than a once good, but now tedious, Terry W. He is now well past his best. His Sunday lunchtime show has very good music but it is spoilt by a bumbling Terry constantly eating and throwing food to the audience, and inviting singers to eat chocolate or oysters just before they sing! He also makes frequently inappropriate comments to his guests - as well as dated remarks about white fivers, Billy Cotton bandshow, old theatricals etc.

I am a great fan of Radio 2 across most timeslots, and it already caters to a wide range of ages and tastes. I believe the new BBC/R2 aim seems to want to attract real geriatrics - so TW might be the right person after all - but not for me. Keep the Sunday show content but dump the presenter.

Finally, I think Simon Mayo is doing a really great job, in the 5pm Drivetime slot. A very diiferent style to CE but really enjoyable. Good music, interesting items, intelligent, dry humour, and less manic than CE. Keep up the good work Simon.
