THE SECOND SUMMER OF LOVE
Show airs on Saturday 29th May & 5th June 2100 - 2200

Rave generation
Read some of the best memories we've been sent, so far...

or Send your story
'I remember when Sasha had long blonde hair, Pete Tong couldn't use a mixer, Jeremy Healy played Nirvana in Cream (was that the night I fell over John Galliano lying under the DJ booth?) and I got arrested in the club'
Matt Bate, Plastic People

'We were at the rave in Maidenhead in '99 that The Sun dubbed 'Ecstacy Airport'. We found out the destination by phone and raced down the M4 hoping to find it. We parked on the A4 and went into a huge hangar which took your breath away. 12,000 people dancing, huge projectors, we danced until dawn. Then they opened the enormous doors and the sun streamed in, greeted by wild yells from all inside'
Adam, London

'We used leave in a convoy of 2 to 3 cars which grew steadily until you might have 30 or 40 cars all haring around trying to find where everything is at! It was a time of easy money, relaxed people, very bad dress sense and a happy time altogether. You have to grow older VERY slowly!'
Ben, Weybridge

'Dance music in the dawn of acid house was exciting and very varied. It's very hard now for music to capture the essence of those glory days'
Sarah

'Sasha was still a kid, and Mike Pickering was still cool (no M-People). I loved the chilling out after the rave, listening to the Beloved's 'Happiness', watching the sun rise over grimy old Manchester and thinking it was the most beautiful place on earth! I still can't believe the gatherings at the services on M6. Over 300 crazy ravers descending on a deserted cafe with only 2 staff!'
Caroline, Manchester

'The whole seedy underground rave scene was one of the best times of my life. I've no regrets and would do it all again tomorrow. My favourite ever track was 'Take Me' by Dream Frequency with whom I danced on stage at Murrayfield Ice Rink… The authorities, by trying to outlaw the whole scene, only made it more exciting'
Clarke, Murrayfield

'My first rave was effectively three hours driving in circles on a industrial estate unable to get out! The police saw our mass convoy on the M6 and tactically cornered around 800 vehicles, pig-pen fashion. Three hours later we were having our documents checked at the road block and we were on our way home'
Wendy, Somewhere on the M6!
