SUZI QUATRO'S PIONEERS OF ROCK'N'ROLL Begins 2200-2230, Wednesday 24 August 2005
Suzi Quatro presents a six part series profiling the early mavericks who built the foundations of rock music. The series will feature both acclaimed stars of the rock 'n' roll era - Eddie Cochran, Brenda Lee, Gene Vincent - and unsung heroes Johnny Otis and the 'Legends of Doo Wop'.
On the next programme: Gene Vincent
Unhinged and dangerous in black leather yet softly spoken and polite, he was the ultimate wild rocker. His first hit - 'Be-bop-a-lula' - is a classic slice of rock 'n' roll mayhem. Gene died in 1971 aged 36. The programme will feature rare interview material and the comments of admirers such as Robert Plant and the late John Peel.
