- THE LANGUAGE OF KYLIE
Tuesday 4 & 11 November, 2030 - 2130
Mark Goodier presents a new two part series on the music and meteoric success of Kylie Minogue.
She achieved unprecedented fame almost overnight in the 1980s, and then lost it in the 1990s only to reclaim the title of 'princess of pop' once more. She has triumphed on the small screen and endured humiliation on the big screen. She plays the fame game with consummate skill and has enjoyed a stunning renaissance since returning to the top of the singles chart with 'Spinning Around' in 2000. Her name is Kylie Minogue and in this two-part profile, Mark Goodier discovers the language of Kylie.
She has been in the limelight for half of her life. Kylie's rise to international superstar status sounds like a true fairytale, but how did a child actress end up dominating the pop soundscape of the 1980s? By her own admission, she has made mistakes, but being Kylie, she has always managed to bounce back to the top. Other wannabe pop princesses look to her with envy and wonder what it is about Minogue that has given her such longevity. As she releases her ninth studio album, this series considers her enduring success.
In an in-depth interview, Kylie reveals all: from Jason to Kermit, from pop princess to indie girl, and from hotpants to scorching singles, Jason Donovan, Pete Waterman and the Hit Factory, Michael Hutchence, escaping to the Deconstruction record label and her fall from grace - this is Kylie on Kylie.
The programme will also feature the music of Kylie including her biggest hits and extracts from her new album 'Body Language', released in November.
