Al Green may be the last great soul man, and as the pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Memphis, he also embodies the bond between secular soul music and the church.
Journalist and broadcaster Paul Sexton, who has written about soul music for more than 25 years, travels to Memphis to tell Green's story. He interviews Al and his longtime producer Willie Mitchell at the celebrated Royal Studios, on the very microphone where they made all their classic recordings for the Hi label such as 'Let's Stay Together', 'Tired Of Being Alone' and 'Sha-La-La (Make Me Happy').
Green talks candidly about his entire career, his work as a minister and his return to secular recording with his mentor Mitchell, now almost 77 years old. Coinciding with the series, Green releases the second album since their reunion, 'Everything's OK', on EMI's famous Blue Note label.
