About Andy Davies

Dear person who has stumbled upon this page, let me lead you through the parts I play on The Jonathan Ross Show - these are (in no particular order): producer/sidekick/devil's advocate/giggler.

Producer - I have been a TV and radio producer for over 10 years, working for both the BBC and commercial radio and television with a number of famous faces including Jack Dee, Chris Evans, Gaby Roslin, and Julian Clary. One of my duties as producer of the show is the selection of the three hours of music we play every Saturday morning. This is a joy and a privilege to me for I am an ardent fan of a diverse range of music, which I try to reflect in my choices. I hope that at least on a number of occasions we have introduced listeners to something new and different that they wouldn't find by listening to any other radio station.

Sidekick - every Saturday I sit opposite Jonathan, operating the controls whilst his mind wanders from subject to subject. I have worked with Jonathan for over five years; I can often tell just by his eyes which direction he intends to head and whether I should go with him or offer a difference of opinion. The relationship has become completely natural; we rarely discuss anything in advance of the programme because we both feel that spontaneity is the key to the success of the show.

Devil's Advocate
- I've made this a distinct category because I believe it is a very important part of how the show has been received. If I agreed with everything Jonathan said, it would be a waste of time to be there, challenging him once in a while brings out the best in Jonathan, and gives him a chance to show off his depth of knowledge and be entertaining with it.

Giggler - Listeners have said that they just hear me laugh a lot and wonder whether I'm being false and 'creeping' to the boss. I genuinely am laughing. We don't often discuss Jonathan's stories before the programme so the laughter is completely genuine. Jonathan is one of the funniest people I have had the pleasure to work with - I may giggle but I can assure you it's real.

Friend - It may not sound like it at times but Jonathan and I are the best of friends. We meet socially to play tennis or go to movies and if I ever need advice he is one of the first people I turn to. I have known him on and off for over 10 years, in fact ever since I knocked on his door live on-air for Greater London Radio (GLR) and asked him to come back with me to the Chris Evans Show. He agreed and was a real sport when, having been made to brew the tea, he was slapped around the face by the real tea boy, because the quality wasn't up to standard. I remember the moment as if it was yesterday and how brilliant Jonathan was in his reaction.

Well, dear reader - there is a brief description of me. Hope you enjoyed it and continue to listen to the radio show - it is a real honour for me to be part of it. Oh, my favourite colour is red and I was born on 10 August 1965.

Best Wishes

Andy Davies xx
