In a special Friday Night Is Music Night, entertainment icon, Barbara Windsor celebrates her career, from 'Carry On' to 'EastEnders', and the best of British musicals, with the BBC Concert Orchestra and special guests.
Best known for the 'Carry On' films and TV's 'EastEnders', Barbara Windsor is an icon of British entertainment. Among her stage and film credits are 'Fings Ain't What They Used To Be', 'The Belles Of St Trinians', 'Oliver', 'The Boyfriend', 'Half A Sixpence', 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and 'Oh What A Lovely War'.
In this musical celebration for her 70th birthday, she looks back over her extraordinary career and the best of British musical theatre. Among the shows featured are Lionel Bart’s 'Oliver', David Heneker’s 'Half A Sixpence' and Anthony Newley's 'Stop The World I Want To Get Off'. The concert also spans the history of British shows from Sandy Wilson’s 'The Boyfriend' to music from Noel Coward and Ivor Novello, right up to the current maestro, Andrew Lloyd Webber.
At the Hackney Empire in London, the concert features the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Roderick Dunk, with special guests Aimee Atkinson, June Brown, Roy Hudd, Shane Richie, Bradley Walsh and Capital Voices.
