The audio for this programme is no longer available

Part of Radio 2's Guitar Season, Gary Moore pays tribute to blues and rock guitarist Rory Gallagher on the 10th anniversary of his death.

Gallagher was 47 when he died from an infection caught after a liver transplant operation. The programme includes rarely-heard archive recordings of Rory himself  as well as the first airing of a snatch of a demo from the 60s as Rory tried to break out of his Irish showband days.

As well as presenter Gary Moore dicussing his early days playing on the same bills as Rory in Belfast, contributors include Queen's Brian May who reveals how he copied Rory’s guitar sound and The SmithsJohnny Marr who says he took a day off school to play along with one of Rory’s albums.

Other contributors include English folk giant Martin Carthy, ex-Cream bassist Jack Bruce, ex-Dubliners singer Ronnie Drew, Georgie Fame as well as old friends from Cork.
