A WAR LESS ORDINARY
Saturday 2115-2200
10 November 2007
To mark this year's Remembrance Day, Sarah Lancashire presents a look behind the scenes of war, from non-combatants such as medical staff, the Home Guard and the Women’s Land Army.
Through the medium of poetry and song, this programme gives a voice to those who carry out very real work and sacrifice but who don't actually fight on the frontline.
Hear about the family members who kept hope alive by writing letters, sending parcels and praying; the conscientious objectors whose sufferings are only now being taken seriously and even the animals caught up in war.
With Richard Armitage, Susan Jameson and Charlie Brooks.
