Martin Luther King

Let Freedom Ring - Music, Race and The Soul of America

Tuesdays 1 - 8 April
2233 - 2330

Forty years ago, black America lost its leaders.

From John F. Kennedy to Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, those that propelled the civil rights movement forward were gone.

In their place, the music had to take the lead.

In this landmark series, actor Morgan Freeman looks at the legacy of Dr King's message in Afro-American music from 1968 to the present day.

With contributions from Stevie Wonder, Grandmaster Flash, Chuck D, Gil Scott Heron, The Wu-Tang Clan, Jay-Z and many more, discussing how the message has changed through the years, and if the quest for individual wealth has replaced the collective goals of the civil rights era.
