The day John Lennon met Paul McCartney

The Day John Met Paul

Saturday 14 June
1900-2000

Re-live the moment when John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the very first time.

This programme goes back to the now famous Quarrymen gig, at a sunny garden fete in Liverpool on 6 July 1957.

Featuring an interview with Sir Paul McCartney, and the music and memories of John Lennon's group the Quarrymen, this is the tale of how John and Paul's friendship changed music forever.

Contributors include Colin Hall, custodian of John Lennon's childhood home Mendips, and key figures from the Liverpool music community.

This programme is part of BBC Radio 2's Liverpool Season.
