Moments in Love - The History of Chillout Music
(rpt)

Saturday 19 July
1904-2000

Chris Coco follows the development of Chillout, from it's classical origins through to the present day.

The journey takes him from 19th Century Paris, through to the 21st Century beach bars of Ibiza, Amsterdam's Supper Clubs, England's Malvern Hills and back to the contemporary Paris chillout scene.

Chris talks to Jose Padilla, the man widely regarded as the spiritual father of the genre, whose session tapes sound-tracking the setting sun over Cafe del Mar, turned into the popular compilation series.

The programme also features contributions from Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream, and former Art of Noise member Paul Morley, as well as a laid-back soundtrack to set the mood.

This documentary is part of BBC Radio 2's Dance Season.
