(Don't It Make You) Happy!

Performed by Liz McClarnon

Written by John McLaughlin, Simon Perry, Liz McClarnon and Dave Thomas

Since Atomic Kitten took a break in spring 2004, Liz has been on one big roller coaster ride of adventures with her debut solo single the Robin Gibb produced “Woman in Love” hitting the top five in February 2006.  In recording her debut album her song writing travels have taken her from Liverpool to London, Los Angeles to New York and across Europe.

Her popularity has continued to build with her appearances on TV which includes her stint on Celebrity Love Island in Fiji. She has also built a loyal and solid fan base with constant gigs across the globe. As one third of Atomic Kitten Liz enjoyed huge chart success across the UK, Europe and Asia selling over eight million albums and singles around the world with two UK number one albums and 13 top ten singles including three number ones in the UK and in more than 20 countries internationally.

Liz will perform her self penned single “(Don't It Make You) Happy!” which she believes can give the UK a much needed lift at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007.  “Happy! is a huge, upbeat song from the heart which I think will give everyone a lift when they hear it and see the performance,” says Liz. “Lyrically it’s as positive a message as you can get.  Eurovision has always been a big event in our household. It’s the musical event I have the earliest memories of and to actually be in with the chance of representing the UK is so exciting!”

Liz says she’s the perfect choice to take part in Eurovision as she’s such a massive fan of the show. “I watch Eurovision religiously every single year, we have one of those parties and I just absolutely love it, so I jumped at the chance. And I’ve written the perfect song for it so I thought it’s definitely right to do it.” Liz’s band mates Natasha Hamilton and Jenny Frost have already planned their Eurovision parties, ‘Jenny’s doing the London one and Tash is doing the Liverpool one and they’re both rooting for me’.

How is this not plagarism? Its clearly the melody of 'Son of a preacher man' by Dusty Springfield. Also the lyrics are rubbish. Overall Liz is complete rubbish!

    joyce coventry
I think this may be the winner on Saturday after listening to the rest. Boy are we getting desperate in this competition to have Big Brovs and Brian Harvey to represent us. Go Liz, do your stuff and show the world! Good Luck

    David, Milton Keynes
This also gets nul points from me. If this wins MYMU, I will go to a betting shop and place a bet on this getting nul points.

    rob - preston
liz liz liz - get ure kittens !!!!!! then enter europe!! prefer her single last year as an entry not this - sorry

    Jonny, in London
Please, this song makes me sad! Ironic really considering the title!

    scoatt/ london
is this the one morrisey wrote? or is it by someone from Morrison's?

    Matthew, London
GO LIZ! You are the one I want in the contest! Great upbeat song!

    Joanna, Peterborough
Well, it's a feel-good song, and I'd vote for it if it got in and was another country's song, but no way would it win. Europe wouldn't put that above the power ballads and all the big gimmicks (remember the French lady on ten-foot platforms?)

    silverships27
A boring song..sounds like 'Son of a Preacher Man'

    Peter, England Liverpool
I love you Liz, but isn't this song familiar. It is the tune to "Was the son of a preacher pan." This is not catchy at all, we will never win with this.

    Nicholas Willmott, Bath
This sounds to me like "Son Of A Preacher Man" with different lyrics. Catchy, better than "They Don’t Make 'Em Like They Used To" by Hawkins & Brown, but still not sure it's got the kick for Eurovision.

    atomic stacy
do yor best and we will be voting for you good luck with it all. make your mind up liz.

    Gina G, London
    I love it!

    Chaeo
    It totally rules!

    Tony, Welwyn Garden City
Catchy, lively, but I don't hold out much hope for this as it is pretty run-of-the-mill.

    James - Nottingham
Seen it all before, if its chosen it wont do well. all the best tho x

    Bill, Bognor
This song is like musical valium. Awful and desperate.

    :) Mikey Leeds :):)
    No comment Could be better

    Rick, Tewkesbury
Bland, not instantly catchy which is what you need for Eurovision

    Wim (Belgium)
Fantastic feel good song. A surefire hit!

    richard lincolnshire
very catchy reminds me of dusty springfield ' this is a contender'

    Sparkle, Chester
I wouldn't be disappointed if this was our entry, so long as the performance stands up. It's simple, catchy and summery. An appeal to the creative bods though: please don't have a line up of fellas behind Liz pretending to play brass instruments!

    john in surbiton
Her solo career hasn't really taken off and its easy to see why. She is a very beautiful woman and the only way you could vote for her is for that reason alone. Remember a pretty face and bland song does not win eurovision (look at lordi)

    Lee, Newcastle
Quite good - wait and see what it sounds like live I guess... xx

    Lauren Rice Liverpool
Happy is amazing its one of the best songs ive heard for ages BOTE LIZ!

    Heather,Scotland
I think Lil's song is gr8 and i hope it'll be on her album!!

    Fran, Newcastle
I love lil and will support her what ever she does but we arent ever gonna win eurovision no matter how good the song or person is so what's the point?

    charlie, London
Oh come on. are you people deaf. No, it does not make me happy, its god awful. Its so bad it sounds like she actually may have writtern it herself. please no.

    Alberto - Andalucia
Very retro and bland. European viewers will yawn, she'll get nil points and Brits will think it's all because of the war. A non-starter.

    Bobby Svensen, Hampshire
Its a 'nice' song and the stage show will be non-existant! Out of all of the songs (ive listened to the full 3 min versions) this is the one I remember the least.....

    Alec - London
Very catchy too much "Son of a preacher man" which is not bad. This is a FUN song will get the audience clapping but will get lost in the Final.

    Chris -Merseyside
Liz is too good for Eurovision, been waiting ages to hear this song, i agree it's catchy but Liz can do so much better than this song. I would say she has the most status out of the other contestants plus she's gorgeous! I hope everyone votes Liz, because she's perfect to represent the UK!

    Sheryl, Herts
Wasn't keen at First but it's really grown on me .. LOVE it ! :D Lil would be a great choice for us cos teh songs really cheery and AK had loads fo fans in Europe so really hope && think she'll do well ! (y) x x

    Dean
    Go girl.....

    craig england
a bit bland wud of expected a top pop tune

    sam, somerset
    shocking..

    kay, kent
do i hear the backing music from "son of a preacher man"

    Ashley Kingston
AWFUL. Bland pop that will get us nowhere, don't make the same mistake year after year people!

    Jon, Stockport
I love Liz and would love her to represent the UK, great song and she looks amazing.

    Andrew, Holbæk, Denmark
A fabulous voice, talent sound, infact everything to make it win for U.K.. Makes me happy, just hearing this great song.

    Andrew, Holbæk, Denmark

    atomic stacy
hi shis is stacy I hope you do well and that I wish u all the best!!!!!!!!!!!

    Amaan (Cardiff)
The best song out of all of them. This has to win. I love Liz.

    Da z Redditch
I loved Atomic Kitten but Liz was always the best, good luck girl x

    Peter, Cornwall
I love this song and think it's great, however I feel its slightly too poppy for Eurovision. It will not perform well if selected. I also doubt it will be selected, due to the clash with Dancing on Ice: The Final (once again). If they want to increase our chance at Eurovision, get a better schedule.

    Chris from Staffordshire
This songs grown on me! It's happy, it's catchy! What more do you want? Having listened to the others it stays in my head better. Go Liz. Oh, and enough with the 'preacherman' thing!

    necty ,nottingham
not brilliant just ok,better than the others though how bad is this years standard.COME ON CYPRUS!

    Stephen, London
Definitely one of the better of this year's selection. Liz will certainly be able to cut it live. It would be even better if she puts on a good show.

    Jodie, Lancs
Most of the songs sound fine recorded but the question is, how will they do on the night, and i think the only person to pull it off live is Liz!

    Ivan -Malta
not too bad but still will be forgotten i think

    Tony, Coventry
"Son of a preacher man" revisited

    barber - manchester
mmmmmm not too bad, not a winner though

    Anita Netherlands
    Love it! COME ONE LIL!

    Greg, Tallinn (Estonia)
    Doesn't make me particularly happy.

    dukdignan,Thailand
good luck Liz,load of fans will support ya love this song ;)

    Darren, Leicester
Not bad, certainly better than the last Atomic Kitten member to enter Eurovision - Jenny Frost was 15th, and her song wasn't as good as this.

    Rob London
Not bad compared with other songs I've heard from MYMU this year but doesn't stand a chance in Helsinki.

    Danielle Mulhern Northern Ireland(Belfast)
happy is absoulty brillant i love it liz played it when she came to belfast to turn on the xmas tree lights and it was brillant from the moment i heard it it was brill wel ive been liz and the girls biggest fan frm ak and think lil will win and cnt wait for ak to come back will be voting for ya lil!!!!love ya xxxx

    Zishan - Birmingham
"The only one who could eva reach me was the son of a preacher man" - Nice one!!

    Karen/Leeds
This track is ideal for the Euro'.

    G, England
Everybody must vote for Lil to do eurovision 2007 for us, it is a brilliant song and I love it, it is the ideal eurovsion song good luck Lil!!!!xxxx

    Shane Hamblin
Well, I'm absolutely godsmacked! I didn't expect a vocal as good as this to come from Liz! The song is amazingly catchy and the lyrics really work, Liz, I think this could be a winner!

    gary in edinburgh
i was happy when i heard she was going to mumu, but this song is a let down.

    Phil, London
Great singer and good song but not sure it's good enough to win sadly.

    Louise, Ford
    WOW! WICKED! SHOULD WIN!

    Graham, Borehamwood
    Nice song but expected better

    Jenny Edinburgh
Gosh it must have been awfully hard learning all those song lyrics... At least she looks the part (mind you we haven't seen what she's going to be wearing...)

    gert, Belgium
    5/10

    oz
Son of a preacher man part 2! It's good.

    Daniel, Manchester
I think that Liz Mcclarnon is the type of thing we need for this years Eurovision, Eurovision is all about pop music and has wavered away from pop over the last few years, and with Liz being a pop superstar it will be nice to have the pop factor re-instated

    neanderthal west midlands
COPYCAT ALERT!!!! the chorus sounds exactly like 'son of a preacher man'. u cannot argue against this!!! its an awful song anyway.

    steph (scotland)
the songs wicked i hope lil gets it cause i know shed do amazing :) xxx

    Eurosong07
That`s good too, second best after Brian.

    Matt, Burton

    Adam - Nottingham
Happy, upbeat and fun. Eurovision all over it. Should do good if choosen.

    Mike, Portsmouth
Great song but try singing the lyrics and tune to 'son of a preacherman' and there isn't much difference.

    Alba, Spain
The song is amazing! It would be a great choice! If she represents the UK I will vote her for sure!

    Mandy, Germany
Oh my god, Happy is a great song. I love them. I hop you sing it for UK. Good luck!

    bobby, Plymouth
Shhhwwiiingggg! and a good song..this IS EUROVISION.. Top marks!

    Mike, Beds
Great track. Would be happy with eithe this track or Justin's track going to Helsinki. Shame AATW were too foolish to see the potential in this track.

    Nick, Manchester
Sounds catchy and vaguely similar to something I've heard before. It should stand a good chance though.

    Nathalie, Denmark
Honestly, I'm a little disappointed with the track, cos I know Lil can do better . It's still good, though .

    Jon, Leicester
It sounds like a remake of Son Of A Preacher Man, but I don't think it will challenge Justin Hawkins or Big Brovaz.

    Alexander, Sweden
Out of the six contestans Liz has the best song. No doubt about it.

    Jez from the nethelands
Its the most wonderful song what lil ever do... wish her good luck and hope that she gonna sing it for england this year!

    Donna, Norfolk
Lil's track 'Happy' is fantastic - really upbeat. She's the ideal candidate to represent the UK and I hope that she wins the votes of others like she has mine. Good Luck, Lil! x

    Javine
Give me another beer, maybe I'll like it

    Jacky, Galsgow
    Good luck Liz!
