Brian Harvey started his musical career as one fourth of the hugely successful pop band East 17 in 1992. Taking their name from the area of London in which they lived East 17 were born and in August of 1992 their first single “House Of Love” was released and went straight into the top ten. From then on a succession of 17 other singles and six albums followed including the million selling single “Stay Another Day” which hit the Christmas number one spot in 1994 and stayed in the charts for 16 weeks.
Tony left the band in 1997 but Brian, Terry and John continued to release songs and still perform around the world to this day. Brian has kept the profile up by appearing on TV shows like I’m a Celebrity in 2004 and had a much publicised car accident in 2005 that nearly took his life. 2007 will be the band's 15th year so they will be performing a greatest hits show throughout the UK and are looking at releasing new material to their army of adoring fans who are a little older but have not lost any of their passion.
Brian says he was ‘thrilled’ to be asked to perform on Making Your Mind Up and his East 17 band mates are supporting him all the way, “they will all be voting for me on the night!” Some people might think Eurovision is a world away from Brian’s image of an east end lad but he says: “There is something about the scale of this competition which grabs people’s imagination. It’s like a national treasure and I am very excited to be a part of it.” He remembers Eurovision from his younger days recalling the moment the Bucks Fizz girls had their skirts ripped off. ”I got very embarrassed and left the room, I didn't want my parents to catch me watching it.”
Hoping to fly the flag for his country, Brian says he will just give it his best shot on the night. So will we be seeing a performance anything like the monster rockers Lordi who won Eurovision last year?Brian says: “We’re spookily similar...... no only joking :) we are nothing alike.”

Hi, until now, I've heard 3 different versions of Brians song! The original version which is amazing, the soft one, which was completely different to the first and worse and the wonderful song arranged in Gospel-Style, the best decision for Saturday. Please, Brian, sing the Gospel version and not the pop ballade, it's awful!!!!! AND UK: After hearing all the 41 participating countries I must tell you: There are many, many pop and rocksongs, but no strong ballad!!! If the UK will choose a ballad, this would enter the TOP 3 in Helsinki and Brians Gospel (!) Version would surely be the winner 2007! Lot's of luck, UK!!!! Grissy from Germany

Yes you can, now can you come back to the charts and make me smile again? Love it, love you always have always will. Good luck on the night. x

It's so so great!!I love it!!Brian will win!!!
Mell, Staffordshire.
I missed it on Terry's show but think I heard a clip on "Richard and Judy". I liked it and am disappointed to see from the MYMU site that it looks as though it will not be going further - or have I misinterpreted the message board?
Sarah Boyce, London
Does anyone know if its true that all phone voting for this Saturday’s Eurovision entry show is suspended by ICSTIS following the recent allegations. I’ve just seen on a website that ICSTIS has launched an investigation into the premium rate services used in a BBC programme following allegations of misleading practices including just announced on the news, Blue Peter. It’d be a shame cause I think we’ve got a good chance with Brian to win this but I'll be checking with the BBC before I cast my vote, I have'nt been able to get the BBC to confirm or deny this so far but I'll keep trying.
elsa edware
i lkove the song please buy it everyone. we have not won the eurovision for a while n if any1 can its brian

There is nothing wrong with this song it is fab and hopefully only good will come of this song!! If this country knows what is good for them they will vote this through!! If you do your research you will find that Brian Harvey has a huge fan base in other countries in Europe and is sure to get the points!!!

Isn't this the Skye boat song? Or at least bits of it.
Matt Powell, East Sussex
Not that you'd know it but I and 3 friends wrote and recorded the music for the original verion (without the cheese), trying to help Brian with some inspiration to get better and interested in music again around the time of his accident and convalesence. What have they done to it?!?! - Try You tube to hear our original - the idea was to let the vocal shone through and steer well away from over production.
Ed - Bucks
Wicked song u can download this today on itunes so download it for 79p and get the song back in the charts the song is soulful and when sung live will come to life hope he has a choir it will really make the track ! good luck mate !
Jonny - London
Lovely ballad! but will it stand out amongst the others?
scott/ london
aw bless! he needs a bit of a lift after his accident. you can imagine copping off with a fat bird from frankfurt to this at some hellish disco in benidorm
Joanna, Peterborough
I fear it could suffer the same fate (third from last or thereabouts) of poor old James Fox. Was that even his name? It's not as good a song as his anyway, and he's not very good looking...I really hope we don't vote this one in!
john in surbiton
oi harvey nah!! Ropey ballads dont win eurovision ever VOTE HAWKINS AND BROWN!!
tasha, braintree
great song should win!! brian i am a big E17 fan and you will get my vote :-)
Alexandra, Washington DC
I am European living in US and everybody I know here simply loves this song. It's full of energy and gives you chills everytime you hear it. I told Brian before, give up on UK. Let them enjoy garbage like TakeThat (No.1 in UK) and come to US. Unfortunatelly it's Eurovision so we cannot vote but I wish you lots of luck.
KT Boiler
Well, it's better than the Irish entry! Overall, 2007 doesn't seem to be a vintage Eurovision year, so a well-crafted ballad could do well. Agree with other comments about the cheesy version of Brian's song though.
silverships27
The song is quite good and Brian does a decent vocal..don't think it's 'EUROVISION' however - the version he recorded of this a few years ago was better..this incarnation of the track seems more 'romantic'..perhaps to underscore his recent troubles and "survival" which no doubt will be mentioned once or ten times in his promo..every programme needs the token 'sympathy' vote I guess.
bobby london
i belive i can fly
Nicholas Willmott, Bath
Dull, dull, dull (as one judge criticised one entry in Strictly Come Dancing 2006). If this makes it to Eurovision, the other it will fail to attract votes from the other countries, hence it'll be another nul pointer for us.
jasmine - west one
did you guys know that Greece's representative at the Eurovision is a London lad!!!!!! I heard his song on Youtube and it is wicked. His name is Sarbel. perhaps we should have asked him to represent us!!!
Katja, Germany
I like the other version more thant that version. It sounds much better. It is still ok, but the other version with the gospel is brilliant.
Candice from France
Beautiful song with a beautiful voice... Good luck :) Candice
Dennis, belfast
A load of rubbish how on earth did brian harvey, and this song make it to the semi finals? We should be sending cyndi through if the uk want to keep some pride at the esc.
Tony, Welwyn Garden City
Very ordinary and I am surprised it got through.
ovidiu romania reghin
brian has a great voice ,the song is good too ,let's make him the winner .
Angie, Walthamstow
I am so disappointed at this version of the song. The original is touching and would go down a storm in Helsinki. The new overproduced version stands no chance.
Lauryn-St Helens
I've just had an even better thought- THE KOOKS should represent us, they do have fans across Europe (i know many people from europe-all of whom LOVE The Kooks. Peace out. x
Lauryn-St Helens
I think Brian should represent us but we aint got much chance of winning with tony blair & what he has done, people across the world (nevermind europe) hate us because of him, eg-Daz Sampson should have finished much higher up than he did last year, but nope-it's too political. By the way, i AM a eurovsion fan, I'm not just trying to 'throw a spanner in the works' ok?

yawn!!
Shari, London
Who has deluded Brian into thinking this is a good song? It's one long self-pitying whinge from start to finish. Even more so since it was rearranged. The original version showed some promise but this version is truly awful. It doesn't do Brian's talent justice at all. He has a fabulous voice and needs a song to show it. This is typical Eurovision trash.
Stefana, Bulgaria
OK,UK,everyone has own opinion but u can't say this song is awful - the song has strong text and strong vocals - who else could sing it this way?You are all wrong thinking Brian has been famous once - he is still famous in Europe and Europe want him back so be sure that's your song!!!!!
Marina from Bulgaria
I love that song. I really think it`s the best.It is so tender and melodious! Brian deserve to win Eurovision 2007.He has such a beautiful song. I think everybody in UK have to support him now and we definitelly will support him on the final! He is your national treasure, UK!Give your vote for him!I love you, B!!!Kiss you!!!
J. Baxter, London
This song is average the verse is better than the chorus and the chorus sound like Peters and Lee (a 60s kitch pop group). Theres a lot of talk about East 17 touring this year so why is this not a East 17 eurovision entry or is Brian using this angle to promote his solo effort again. Butlins tour/Eurovision hardly credible is it? I agree with Guv Chopra, his solo/E17 will never match the talent of their main songwriter who I dont think is involved and I doubt would lower himself to this.
neanderthal west midlands
anyone who says this should win needs their ears testing. it is awful, the only thing about this song is that it is sung by someone who was once famous. like anthony costa last year: rubbish song, famous person.
David, Belfast
How on earth do songs like this ever get on the shortlist for mymu? Its awful, please send a great song through this year like ,cindi, and not let united kingdom be the laughing stock of eurovision. Remember last years entrie DAZ? Need i say more.
Julie, France
Totally AMAZING!!!!! You are for sure the winner. Go on UK, vote Brian
O London
WHAT HAVE YOU LOT DONE??? its now overproduced rubbish in contrast to the touching song that it was... this song oculd have a genuine chance even in helsinki if it were stripped back again and song just with brian harvey and a gospel choir... now you can only hear what could be called an appalling backing track and the song has been reduced to garbage thus making it a 1 horse race... its big brovas whether you like rap or not! because its actually the only well produced song and after hearing the full versions it that or liz mclarnon...i didnt like that song before i heard the full version bbut everything else is the purest of garbage
Roger, Cheltenham
Hey, they've changed it :( It WAS good.
Mikey Leeds
Not bad we have had better but all in all a good song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LONDON
BRILLIANT
Guv Chopra, London
Disapointed with the track and it just sums up Brian Hravey. Arguably one of the greatest voices in the UK, but always his solo stuff and even some of the E17 stuff has never been good enough! His solo songs like Stright up no bends and loving you were woeful tracks and this is not much better either. What a shame....
richard lincolnshire
nice voice' average song' idiot of a singer what will he try next? celebrity bargain hunt!
Geoff - Birmingham
If it's not Scooch, it should be this one! A complete contrast, and a real quality song: but remember - this IS Eurovision.
melissa,north
boooooooooooooring i definitly want this not to reprusent us my vote goes to scooch
Sparkle, Chester
Just doesn't have the 'ooomph' factor to win MYMU or the ESC in my humble opinion. Good effort though.
dessy gencheva, Sofia, Bulgaria
THIS SONG IS AMAZING!!! This is all I could say about it and its not cause I'm a BIG EAST 17's fan and cause the song worths. And I hope that this time England will be honest enough and will prove that for once they can appreciate their national treasures (for example the voice of Brian Harvey) the way they are appreciated all over the world. Brian and East 17 were the reason for me to start love England more than my native country and I hope English people won't disappoint me this time! Good luck Brian you are a pride for every country!
Juliana -Bulgaria
Brian must win!If Brian Harvey doesn't win the Eurovision contest, the British people will again prove that they don't have any taste at all.THINK ABOUT THAT Britain! Finally it's time to appreciate that great voice. If Brian Harvey doesn't win you will prove again that you(UK) doesn't deserve him at all.You see the only problem for Brian is to win in UK and then if he win in UK,there's no doubt that he will win the Eurovision, because he has so many fans everywhere in Europe.Go On Brian,Go on Brian,Go on Brian
Rebeca, Spain
I Hope you win, Brian
karen, Southend
This is a great song and it suits Brian's voice, I am a very big fan of his. Good Luck!!
Jonson, London
Oh please please NO NO NO NO. this is just the kind of drivel we need to avoid. It is soo bad and old Brian looks like he has seen better days to.
nick iasi romania
good song
Alfredo (Spain)
This song is non-descript.Viewers will go to the toilet or have a wee nap when Brian's performing
Alec - London
Far too slow. This years contest is full of energy and very eclectic this will get lost and forgotten even before the song is finsihed. Time for a coffee!
Jennie, Warks
OMG! There is another good version of this song this version stinks. Brian, what have you done
Andrew, Holbæk, Denmark
I am in no doubt you Brian, but if you can win on the night, if we don't all fall asleep before it gets to you performing!
Mike the Ref -Leeds
I wouldn't 'book' any of them. I can see another nil point coming on. What happened to Morrisey..I thought he was up for it! We'll not win again until we stop saving the world...and whats more important.
Gabi, Lithuania
Hope this song's gonna win, its absolutely fabulous and Brians voice is amazing. Im sure it would do just great in Helsinki, top 10 guaranteed. Good luck, Brian!
Laura Jaynne, Hertfordshire
This is an amazing song, It means alot to Brian persoanlly as it reflects his personnal battles & I hope this song gets him back on track & us as a nation to represent the UK. Brian is an amazing singer & is a fab guy no matter what anyone says & I think now is a great time to get behind him & give him an amazing oppertunity, as he won't let us down.
Peter, Cornwall
This is my least favourite song. I don't like it. It reminds me of R. Kelly. Not what we want at Eurovision. Reminds me of Israel last year, how well did they do?
Nina Essex
I think the song is great and who cares if no one else don't because Brian will win because he is still so sexy, and his voice is the best.
Stephen, London
This is as dull as the Four Story entry last year and Hold On To Your Love by James Fox. If we send this, it will fly under the radar of the ESC audience.
Andy, West Midlands
GET RID OF THIS CHEESY VERSION AND GIVE US THE ORIGINAL ONE THAT IS ON BRIAN'S MYSPACE AND YOUTUBE! This is the song that could do it for us but not this version! Not to change it back would be criminal. This song is your winner.
Zoe, Bolton
Great song. You go Bri!!!
ivan - Malta
Not too bad, i'd say my second best of the lot
Steve, Manchester
This thing has an "I Believe I Can Fly" vibe to it, which is not a good thing.
Tony, Coventry
I want to rip off my ears so I never have to listen to this again
barber - manchester
no you can't nice for a sunday morning but thats it
Greg, Tallinn (Estonia)
No you can't.
Simon N Ireland
This is the only of the 6 songs I have quibbles about - it's a good song, but Eurovision made very clear in 2004 that it don't want boring male ballads - I can't see this doing overly well in Helsinki.
fifi, oz
it rocks, it u have half of the sucess abba had from eurovision ur gonna go far baby!!
Simon, Bournemouth
Brian has, apparently, struggled with his use of certain substances. I don't think this is a good thing for eurovision. More to point though, the song is bland and I question whether Brian can really fill a big stadium with his voice.
o
I like this song
Rob London
Sorry, am I in a lift? Can a song be more boring?
Oly, West Midlands
Excellent song, will definitely win for the UK. It not about being dull just listen to the words it says it all!
jennylousekenchington
i lovegoodsing 9out10.brianharvey.
Mike, Coventry
I've heard a different version of this and its much better. Its still Brian but its not got the cheap cheesy beat. Switch to the other version
Karen/Leeds
The tune is not catchy enough.

René - The Netherlands
This song is simply the best of all 6 songs! Brian has an amazing voice as well! Could Brian beat Edsilia...?
Louise, Ford
Second Best, GO LIZ! YOU ROX!
Graham, Borehamwood
I am pleasantly surprised by this song. I really like it.
ElenaPaparizou4eva1
Hmmm... Doesn't really set the world on fire does it?
gert, Belgium
it is ok, good vocals; lucky UK soes not have to fight for finals :)
James, London
Outstanding vocalist!!! This guy deserves to be appreciated for his incredible natural ablilty, There's not many singers from the UK that make the hairs on the back of your necj stand on end. Best of luck to Brian.
David Hudson from Leeds
28th February 2007 I think the song will do very well. in europe Yours Faithfully, David Hudson.
Mark, London
Very decent entry
Paul Manchester
Songs great, but don`t think it`s a winner. A bit bland r `n` b - ish.
neanderthal west midlands
awful. doesn't sound good and i am almost 100% certain it won't do well in helsinki if put through. it is bland.
Kim
Written by Connor Reeves and Grant Mitchell!! Not the Grant Mitchell surely ;) Nice song, not sure it's very Eurovision though!
Gary (Manchester)
aloud of rubbish to be quite frank!
Vig
Loving this already!

Hmm, now that´s quite ok - decent song.

What a nice song. Brian's vocal is so good.
Joel, UK
Amazing. Best song here.
Babs, Staffs
If the UK knows what's best for them, they will sent this to Helsinki. Outstanding.
Nick, Manchester
Too slow and dull. It doesn't have any wow factor.
rico newcastle
best entry by far
Jimmy, M'bro
The ONLY good song here! 12 points.
Gabriel, UK
Brian... ace song.. but you have to use the choir like on myspace!
Jane, Liverpool
Aw, isn't he lovely!
