If you don't win what would you take as a good measure of success?
Top 3, or if I can get Greece not to give Cyprus 12 points this year then I think I will have achieved something.
What's your take on the so-called political voting?
Well you blame political voting but we haven't entered anything quality since '97! That's why we've done so bad. You can't send crap and expect to win just because you're Britain. It's time for a change. It's time for the People's Champion - and that's me.
Do you think Daz can win?
Have your say on the Eurovision messageboard.
Do European journalists talk to you about the voting?
No, not really. Their argument is that Isreal has done really well in the past 10 years and look at their political standing.
What does Terry make of the song?
When I won MYMU he was going "oh no, oh no we've got no chance!". But since then he's heard me on interviews and he's come up to me and said "If you don't win it Daz, it won't be your fault". I think he thinks we've got a shout this year.
So you grew up watching Eurovision - any particular memories?
I'm going to say the obvious one from '81 which pains me because I'm talking about something that happened 25 years ago!
Have you got a favourite song from past Eurovisions?
I love Sonia. Actually I loved Michael Ball's - cheese-tastic 'One Step Out of Time'. I thought Imaani in '98 was really good - a bit of a soul vibe. I think from '98 onwards that's when we dipped.
What about Love City Groove?
They were ahead of their time. When they came out in '95 rap in terms of mainstream culture like Black Eyed Peas and Jay-Z were not even heard of. But now those acts are topping charts all over the world. I think it's about time that Eurovision embraced that. I don't mean getting rid of all the traditional values of Eurovision but it's time for another culture aswell.
Do you think a lot of kids watch Eurovision?
I got put in front of Eurovision when I was 4 and I've stayed with it ever since. I think a song like I'm doing is going to get a lot of kids looking at it for the first time.
As you grew up what made you stick with Eurovision and not get turned off by its lack of "coolness"?
Let me ask you a question - when you watch Eurovision do you like the songs or the voting?
I quite like the voting.
Exactly! It boils down to one word - competition. The voting was always the genius and now it's gone down the toilet. I remember Terry's commentaries used to be 90% comedy and 10% about the voting in the 1980s and now it's the other way round. I think that I'm going to be a breath of fresh air through that competition - because yes I'm taking it seriously and it's something different.
Have you heard they're changing the voting system? (More info here)
Yeah and I think it should have been 1-5 that they did that. And then we could have had 5 votes given out live. But why have they done that? Because it's going down the toilet. Hopefully I can change that and next year it could go back to how it was.
What are you wearing on the night?
Oh can we terminate the interview now? I'll tell you for why - on Making Your Mind Up the BBC made me wear that costume [Oh no we didn't! - TV Team]. They told me what I had to wear and then I get ridiculed for it. But you know what I'm not really bothered about what I'm going to wear I'm bothered about how I'm going to win.
Have you got a Bucks Fizz moment?
We have thought of something but obviously I'm not going to tell you as that would spoil the surprise. We want to try and hold something back for Athens.
