Plucky Patricia Bredin treks to Frankfurt to represent the UK. Singing 'All', which lasts less than two minutes, former board-treader Patricia finishes a lowly seventh out of ten, overwhelmed by the 4 minutes and 30 seconds of the winning Dutch song by future presenter, Corry Brokken.
1958
Winners: France
UK Placing: Did not compete
Despite the UK not entering, Euorvision makes its first assault on the UK charts with Italian singer, Domenico Modugno's third-placed, 'Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu' (re-recorded in English as 'Volare'). Andre Claveau of France steals the top prize with 'Sleep, My Love'.
1959
Winners: Netherlands
UK Placing: 2nd
Another year of preposterous song titles sees the UK storming back to form, with the classic teaming of Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson performing 'Sing Little Birdie'. They come a close second to the Netherlands' 'Een Beetje', relegating France's 'Oui Oui Oui Oui' into third by a single point.
