DOWNLOAD HELP

To view and print PDF files you will require Adobe Acrobat Reader listed below are some tips on how to download, install and use Acrobat Reader.

Instructions for Downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader

Print this page before downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader Some documents available at this site are in Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF).If you do not currently have the Acrobat Reader to view and print these documents, use the following instructions to download a copy.
  • Go to Adobe Acrobat Home Page at www.adobe.com
  • Select an Acrobat Reader version
  • Choose the platform version, and language version
  • Select Download Links (UK or Japan)
  • Provide your name and e-mail address
  • Click the Download button
  • Save file to local drive C:
  • Quit your web browser (i.e. Netscape or Internet Explorer)
  • Run the "exe" file that was saved to your local drive
  • Go to the start menu, select RUN type path of where file was saved (c:/ar402.exe or c:/foldername/ar402.exe)
  • This will install Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05
  • The download process is now completed. You are now capable of viewing PDF files
Tips on downloading PDF files

  • Instead of immediately displaying the downloaded PDF file in Acrobat Reader, you may wish to save the file to disk
  • Any file (image, HTML, PDF, text, etc.) on the web is available for downloading to your local hard disk by right-clicking on the link to the file that you wish to download and choosing "Save Link As" (in Netscape Navigator) or "Save Target As" (in Internet Explorer) and specifying a local path and file name
  • For Macintosh - Option-click on the link of the file that you wish to download and specify a local path and file name.
  • Once the file has been downloaded, it is possible to open it locally using the file's local application.
Tips on printing PDF files
  • Large PDF documents require sufficient memory in your printer in order to print correctly. For example, if your laser printer has only one MB of total memory, reversed-text blocks may print as solid black with no message given by the printer if the printer is set for high quality printing. This problem may be satisfactorily solved by setting the printer resolution to a lower value, for example, "medium" or 150 dots-per-inch.
  • If you have insufficient printer memory, another solution is, after downloading the entire file, to print a few pages at a time. If the PDF document does not print properly from Acrobat Reader, you may need to select the "Shrink to Fit" box (located in the lower left corner of the print dialog box) in order to have Reader adjust the printout to fit each page on a single sheet of paper.
  • Trouble with the HP Laserjet printed output may be solved by using the following settings (or similarly named ones):
  • "Use raster Graphics" (instead of "Use vector graphics"). This may fix the problem of "reversed" text (white on black background) not printing, as well as other problems.
  • "Download TrueType Fonts as bitmap soft fonts" (select "bitmap" instead of "outline" or "graphics"). This may remove the overlapping of text on the printed document.
  • "Graphics dithering" select "coarse" or "fine" (instead of "none"). This selection may improve the quality of images contained in the document.
