David Walliams
Walliams in the water!

As you've been hearing on the show, David Walliams is attempting to swim the English Channel for Sport Relief.

See a more greasy version of David here!

He set off at 0531BST and he'll be spending the day be dodging big ships, slimy seaweed, and other quite revolting floating objects to get across the 21 miles of the Channel and raise lots of money for charity.

If you'd like to sponsor David during his swim, just text DAVID to 82125 - Texts cost £1 of which at least 70p goes to Sport Relief

Swimming the channel facts:
It's 21 miles across the Channel but David will be swimming more like 30 miles due to currents, tides, and winds.

It's the world's busiest shipping lane - David will have to dodge ferries and tankers as well as jellyfish, seaweed, sewege, and other disgusting floating objects!

He needs to have his passport with him or he won't be allowed into France.

He's not allowed to touch the boat. If he does the whole thing will be declared void.

Cross channel swimmers are often questioned by French Police during the attempt to make sure they're entering the country legitimately.

He'll be able to eat during the attempt - food will be dangled from a feeding pole from the boat!

David will be covered from head to toe in goose fat or grease to help keep him warm.

More people have climbed Everest than have successfully swum the English Channel

Only one in ten people who've tried it have been successful.
