A Little Bit About Rory McConnell

Rory is 26 and from Belfast. After spending much of his childhood making homemade radio shows on cheap hi-fis and contributing music articles to the school newspaper, Rory decided at the age of 16 that it was time to move into real radio. He swapped homework for the opportunity to answer phones for music show Across The Line on local BBC Radio Ulster.

Two years later Rory was interviewing bands and co-presenting the Across The Line show alongside Paul McClean. In 2004, Rory was offered an opportunity to work for Radio 1 in which he could get more involved in programme production, as well as continue to contribute on air alongside its presenter Donna Legge.

Already in his short time on Radio 1, Rory has danced on stage with the Flaming Lips (while dressed as a 6 ft budgie) met almost every band under the sun and been sunburnt at more festivals than he cares to recall. Rory became the presenter of Radio 1's Northern Ireland show in early February 2006.
