Bristol based Caroline Martin had a very elusive songwriting career until she released her 'Young Tender Rabbit EP' on her own label in 1998. The late John Peel made it his favourite record of the month and Caroline recorded her first Peel session in 1999 - three further sessions followed.
Caroline played her second only live gig at Glastonbury and since then has played all over the UK both solo and supporting another Peel favourite, Nina Nastasia.
Her influences come from other artists and the amount of music Caroline makes is dependent on how much good music there is on the scene at any one time. She claims that the influence she takes from Nina Nastasia has kept her going musically for at least four years
Caroline's debut album 'I Had a Hundred More Reasons To Stay By The Fire' was released in September 2004. She recorded her fifth Maida Vale session in March 2005. This week's session successfully takes her into her 6th session for Radio 1 - she also took part in the Bristol showcase earlier in January.
Caroline plays The Cube, Bristol supporting François Breut on 10th February and at Bar Unlimited, Bristol with Devon Sproule on 26th February.
