Juanita Family and Friends at Maida Vale

Juanita Family & Friends

Juanita Family and Friends mosied on down to BBC Maida Vale for  a OneMusic session.

Earlier in the year Huw and producer Louise were over in Austin, Texas for South By Southwest (SxSW) festival. While there they were also tempted along to fringe event F*** By F*** Y'All (FxFY), where they were impressed by organisers and buskers the Juanita Family and Friends.

So impressed in fact that they invited them over to the UK to record a Maida Vale session for Huw's show. While here they threw in a few gigs in the UK and Ireland and crashed on more than a few floors (including some of the OneMusic team's!)

The Juanitas are a traditional hard drinking, hard touring and heart breaking Country & Western band from Portland, Oregon, steeped in plaintive songs of love, lies and loss.

They were formed by singer/guitarist Lana Rebel and features her fellow ex-Last Of The Juanitas band member John Schier. The band also feature Dylan Reilly on bass and harmonica, James Curley mandolin and guitar and guest backing vocalist Holly Morgan.

After recording their session, they were so impressed with the engineers at Maida Vale that they were heard to say:

'We heard there were wizards in England but we didn't expect to find them in the studio!'

Now you have a good day, y'all.
