Band: The Workhouse
Print versionPrint version 1/3 NextNext
The Workhouse Updated: 16/03/05
Drummer Peter Lazell talks us through the making of their new album

They're still working the nine to five and take their work stress out in their music. The Workhouse are now on the verge of finishing their second album. We chatted to drummer Peter about how their new music is shaping up and the story behind recording their session.

"...we all have day jobs and being mostly instrumental tend to take it out on our instruments"
Introduce yourselves...
"The band are Mark Baker and Andy Dakeyne guitars, Chris Taylor on vocals and bass, and Peter Lazell on drums. The band are based in Oxford and London, although the band members hail from Swansea, Bolton, Middlesbrough and Barrow-in-Furness."

Tell us story behind this session
"It was the last session that John Peel picked before he died. John was an inspiration to all bands, irrespective of their achievements, we really wanted to give the session a full measure of what we're about and hopefully he would have liked it. The titles that we give to the songs are based on either observations, landmarks, famous or infamous people or just things that make us laugh. All sorts of things inspire the band to write - we all have day jobs and, being mostly instrumental, tend to take it out on our instruments."
