Putting girl rock bands back on the map
"Girls are cooler!" reckons Ros, the feisty dark-haired singer of Glaswegian trio We Rock Like Girls Don't. Popular with OneMusic users, the gals have been played on Zane Lowe and One World. They're playing London's Death Disco on February 11 and have a single out in March.
"I think we're cool and we stand out. How many good all-girl rock trio's are there?"
How did the idea of an all-girl band come about?
Ros (vox) "I advertised for a 'rock and roll freak' and when Vas came I thought she'd be really crap. I just didn't think girls were good enough to play with! She turned out to be really good. It was only when I got together with her that the idea came to me of having three girls - and how many good female rock trio's are there?"
Three girls in a band - it's an A&R man's wet dream. What's the response been like from labels?
Ros: "I wrote on our biog that we were 'an all girl trio' because I think we're cool and I think we stand out and I'm not ashamed to use it at all. I just think girls are way cooler anyway. We've had a good response from labels but they're too slow to do anything. We're putting our own single out because we're too impatient. It's taking too long and we want to hurry people up. And no, we didn't send a photo, although a lot of the responses came back asking for a photo..."
