The Scots/Norwegian electronic label with a discography to die for Listen to a sample mix
 |
Adaadat Records was formed in 2003 by Scotsman Angus Keith and Scots/Norwegian Bjorn Hatleskog. The label was founded to release Angus and Bjorn's own music as well as other stuff they were finding hard to get (which isn't surprising considering most of the artists on the label live on other planets). Bjorn says that "It was mostly people we knew when we started the label and we had some connections as well."

"...it's already got a discography some electronic labels would kill for ..." |
Even though Adaadat is still a fledgling label, it's already got a discography some electronic labels would kill for. Adaadat's first release was the compilation CD Trade & Distrubution Almanac vol. 1 and featured the sounds of Twin Turbo, Superdefekt and Reverbaphon, which met cries of "Bury Rock & Roll, maybe, and head for new shores and a new musical aesthetic!" Next up was a split 12" featuring Bjorn's alias Kema Keur and the Game Boy wielding Cow'p.

Unfortunately the record was beaten to the number 1 spot by Louis Bega's 'Mambo No.5', but this didn't faze Angus and Bjorn. After a heavy bout of listening to demos, the duo decided to take a chance on some bloke calling himself Donna Summer and his mate Ove Naxx. An absolute beast of an album was born, and suddenly Adaadat were receiving airplay on Radio 1 by a then unknown John Peel .
