From Zero To Hero Listen to the documentary
 |
2003 were dark times for pop music in the UK, following the 'nul point' debacle of Eurovision. From the ashes, a man called Danny Wallace rose with an idea to do just that. 'From Zero To Hero' is BBC Radio 1's exclusive account of a remarkable story: An ordinary man off the street takes the weight of expectation on his shoulders, to bring pride back to the people here in the UK. Featuring Germans, Norwegians, and a smattering of household names, your country needs you to pay attention to this programme, and pledge your support.

"The improvisation thing could be quite strong... And it gets round that difficult area of actually preparing something..."
|
Richard X
"You have to think outside the box - don't be afraid to re-evaluate your idea, right up until five minutes before the performance. The improvisation thing could be quite strong... and it gets round that difficult area of actually preparing something. You're living in the shadow of the biggest Eurovision gimmick of all time, which was the Bucks Fizz skirts!"
|
Danny Wallace - on the track
"I want a song that looks back, but yet looks forward. I want a song reminisant of other Eurovision greats - 'Glory Days' that's what I want, but also something that comes from the greatest British band of all time... I can see it in your eyes... You're thinking Level 42 as well?"
|
"...because of the Whaling." |
Kurt Neilson - Winner of World Idol
"It's political, Sweden always give their points to Denmark and Denmark give the points Finland."
|
Erik - Obsessive Eurovision Fan
"Norway tends to have the best songs. I think it's a conspriracy that all the other countries have given Norway Nil Point is because of the Whaling."
