I just got the Gnarls Barley album. Luv it! I am a person who respects other people's point of view. But I don't understand it when it comes from not knowing the style of music being created. Ceelo has the talented of singing with soul and freestyling with the best(listen to him in "Sesame Steet" from "Goodie Mob's Soul Food") just awesome. And Dangermouse, just the song "Transformer" with it's crunk style along is just as hype as anything that is hitting now. I agree with someone who wrote this hits the soul HARD!! Wake People.

DangerMouse is the seminal IDeal Musician:listen to the mounting quality sound of his Hz. direct to Ur brainstem to get Urself High! Like a free trip without all the responsibility chemical mind travel involves: You can dig this while You workitout: the beats are synchronous with pulse of Life.
For a manmade creation this music is rather Godlike. Who said alpha males didn’t have a tendare side; Slam Danke Danger Mouse & Cee-Lo: Votez for GNARLS BARKLEY as One of Albarn’s Best CrossCultural MixInc. of Ever Yet!

To "Anan", "two stupid musicians", are u serious? Cee Lo is one of the hottest, talented and realest kats i have ever heard. i love soul,r&b, and funk along w/hip-hop and he is the perfect combination. I can listen to Lo-Lo all day anyday and he just feeds my soul to the point where i feel like i can't be pulled down by anyone and i am just moving along on a playing field that most will never know. Cee Lo, u just keep donig your thang and don't let those haters ever touch what God has given you and no u maybe never placed in the same category as Curtis M, Al G, or Marvin G...but brotha u got just as much soul...As an artist u are the painter of the next sixteen chapel...use your brush...and let my ears be the canvas...

Ahh man, Danger Mouse is the tightest producer out there right now. Hes got the midas touch. Hes so hot too! Gnarls, The Grey Album, Demon Days, The Mouse and The Mask, everything he does is genius. Keep em comin' DM

I am a Cee-lo Green fanatic and I have everything that he has done. I've seen Cee-lo perform here in Baltimore Md at the African American Heritage Festival and I've also seem him perform at Coppin State University. His performances have always been excellent. Cee-lo can spit game like no other. His first solo release Cee-lo Green And His Perfect Inperfections is off the chain. His second solo release Cee-lo Green...Is The Soul Machine, the lyrics are even more hyped than St. Elsewhere. Check out the tracks Childz Play, All Day Love Affair, Evening News, When We Were Friends and Sometimes (my favorite). Then go check him out on Outkast's cd Aquemini doing Liberation and Common's Electric Circus cd doing Heaven Somewhere or Santana's cd Supernatural singing Do You Like The Way. He was awesome on all of those tracks. Cee-lo's knack for playing with words that he mixes with Southern Soul music is the perfect combination that will get your spirits lifted up high. Gnarls Barkley's St.Eleswhere has put Cee-lo Green and Dangermouse on a lot of MP3 playlists and I'm glad that has happened. Now people will finally get to hear Cee-lo spit real game. There is a lot of truth to what he says and I'm feeling it.
DJRomeoCologne
As Atlanta's "Funk Godfather" for 15 years I've struggled to keep The Funk alive until some new firebrand arrives and takes the mantle from around my weary shoulders, and alas, my soulsearching spirit rejoices!!!--Cee-lo and Dangermouse have Saved The Funk!-It's Alive!-Long Live The Funk!!
$ári Ádám
hy. I from hungary. and i thinking your music it's beautiful!!thank you!!(gnarls barkley). so i 'm an enthusiast!!crazyyyyyy
Sweet
Cee-lo has always been the s**t where i'm from so its no suprise that even on an very unique and questionable album such as this one that he still has the ability to bring the funk big up to Mr. Green, imperfect perfecitons and soul machine were both fire, wish that more people would take the time to listen to real musik like that, this is my first time hearing of danger mouse but if he has enough sense to do what he does on these tracks and team up with the best underated vocalist and rapper of all time then he must be nice big up to DM also
FLA. STAND UP AND BE HEARD!!!!!!

No one is better right now. TO: Black Orchid...some truth, but hip hop is rooted in african american culture and will live/breathe/survive by any means necessary. That's how it is...it will never die.

Forget the background, and all the disrespecting, this is the best track to reach number 1 in the UK in a long while, and to those who doubt: he's far more respected than you will ever be, and thats for a reason.

I've heard of danger mouse a few times in the past but was never that familiar with his work. this callaboration with mouse and cee-lo is just freakin crazy. when i heard a snippet of the song "crazy" i was searchin high and low for the cd. i live in dallas tx. and anyone from here knows that danger mouse is not exactly a known name except with the white hip hop heads. no offense or anything but we all know that it's the white kids that are keeping REAL hip hop alive. i had to order gnarls barkley at barnes and noble, so when i cop my copy on friday it will be almost like winning some money. so refreshing to get a taste of something so hypnotizing. great music man. represent cee- lo nad danger mouse. represent for musical freedom baby. one love. dallas, texas
Tina
I saw gnarls barkley at the coachella festival. There stage show was a amazing. Coming on stage to Pink Floyd in Wizard of OZ costumes. They rocked the house. They gave Gnarls Barkley is so worth seeing. Much love and peace...
thom bishop (das bish-hop)
a lot of people are saying some pretty harsh things here. firstly, it doesnt take a genius to think 'wouldnt it be cool if i mixed some old beatles tunes with some modern hip hop vocals', but dangermouse's creative sampling and rearranging on the grey album WAS genius, and the resultant legal shennanigans drew some much-needed attention the the current problems with copyright laws, and yeah, id say it was legendary for it.
listen to the music - its about reinventing, rethinking old sounds and making them new, this follows in the footsteps of all good hip hop, and just because its (suddenly) becoming popular doesnt make it worse.
i dont think its the best thing around, but dangermouse is pursuing his own vision with gnarls barkley, and i have a lot of respect for that.
to repeat myself - just listen to it. get hold of the grey album, and listen to it - its better than the black album. and the gnarls barkley material is just as fresh and engrossing.
i for one feel pleased for him - he deserves the success hes had with gorillaz demon days and now gnarls.
Tammy
Speaking as an "old-soulfreak" Crazy is the best release for decades! It's pure old skool and its about time the UK woke up to real music again.
Ru
Being an experiment in sound makes it unique. Cee-Lo's talent has been underrated here in the US for a long time. He is known in the south, way before the whole crunk thing. Danger's take on the Adult Swim lineup gave him full credentials in the hip-hop, avant-garde, kind of psychedelic niche that started with his grey album. We might have found the Pink Floyd of rap.
wellfedartist.ca
The group rox my sox. Whether they are sampling other music or not, there is more to making successful music, and a sucessful group than just being able to produce original work. Whatever these guys are doing, they clearly are doing well, as demonstrated by their huge fan base. Dressing up and putting on a show, is all part of show business... and they hit the nail on the head. Keep up the great work. Maybe we can do business together someday.
KBC
Everyone needs to peel away from the same music. It isn't meant to get everyone pissed off and bitching about gangster rap. F.Y.I There aren't any good gangter rappers anymore, black, white .... RACE DOESN'T MATTER!

The kid who wrote, "Ain't no kid from Atlanta know who the HECK Dangermouse is!" couldn't be more ignorant. Are you serious? He's from Athens, GA! I have friends here in the ATL who are friends with him! They were awesome at Coachella! lo-lo's voice is awesome live! Hate on some actual talentless acts we have coming out of the "Dirty".
Yuzawa-Kanagawa
So what he samles? HE'S A DJ, THAT'S WHAT HE DOES!! Retard. And Gorrilaz may be white boy hip-hop but Gnarls Barkley Certainly isn't. BIOTCH!
Chachi
To those who are critical of Dangermouse and Gnarls Barkley, you are fools. They have the balls to do what no one in the mainstream is doing. They put out a soul/funk triumph in a time of despair for the whole hip hop community. Dangermouse is an excellent producer and has in St. Elsewhere the best record released this year. If the hip hop/RnB communities would get outside the cookie cutter ideas of what pop music is and listen for themselves maybe people will come around. At least they don't drone on about their grillz or all the shit they've got or how their the hardest "g" on the block. They make music and don't buy what corprate music is selling. A+++++++++++++
JOKER36dfw
Im listening to the Gnarls Barkley album right now and its originality regardless of sampling is the ISH... Anyone can sample but that dosent mean they have the talent to organize it so well... Im dissapointed with the direction hip hop is headed but somethinig like this definitley is something we needed...
Jay
Guy who claimed that there are some good underground producers with CREATIVITY and whatever else you said...But these guys chose not to stay "Underground" where the good acts move up anyways..But chose to how do you say "Market" themselves to make money...Gee no one does that anymore...wait...no..that is how many fortune 500 companies make their money...Marketing is what sells..being underground might be cool but being rich and famous is a hell of a lot sweeter
sanjay katwa
dangermouse has a unique beat that gets you hooked
jesse helm
I didn't really like the Grey Album. Hard to listen to. But Gnarles is the sh*t! Just wish it was underground. Or at least a little underground.

Dangermouse represents the happy medium between hip-hop, rock, soul, funk, techno, r&b, blues and any other musical form you can think of that the global music community is yearning for. their are so many genres that it is refreshing to hear something that can't be pigeon-holed

wow...I dont see how errybody sayin dangermouse is so original...hes cleary the opposite, 85-90 % of his shyt is unadulterated sampling, however he is very good at doing that particular thing....not original but good music....C-LO GREEN ON THE OTHER HAND IS SUPER ORIGINAL AND IS THE MUTHER F'IN MAN>>>>GOODIE MOB _ STILL STANDING IS THE ISHHH

who in the what now? Ya'll are crazy. Listening to mice and seals. Man, and I thought I was nuts.

Who the hell cares about all that...doesn't anybody just hear something and simply enjoy it anymore? All I can say is that these songs are absolutely sweet and I love listening to them...I couldn't give a crap about who what where when why; I just want to listen and dance my heart out to them because that's what they're for...Mmkay? So, more to those who can appriciate anyone who helps make these sounds available for the rest of us average smoes to enjoy! Rock on Barkely!

it's a whole totally differant sound! I'm Lovin it!

to the kid who wrote the first message in here...
ok, at som point, I agree with you that combining two legendary records the way he did has been a bit overrated ( even though i thought it was a cool project) BUT, creating such a buzz in the new digital world of music like he did (dealing with such problems as sample right, downloading, internett etc), was something to wake everybody up, and something this # up musicbiz needed. He took some hevy riscs with that one!
Right, he samples almost everyting on his projects, BUT think of the hevy impact the music of gnarles barkley has on people... It makes people happy. Most kids today know nothing or little about some of the early legends in music, but now every youth around suddenly knows who curtis mayfield is, and they might start checking out his music too.
and yeah... it's cool to keep it real and holding it underground hating on other producers blowing up. I'm a hip hop producer myself, i know how this game is... If you stop concerning about such issues like that, you would have the chance to enjoy so much more music.
And who in their right mind cares if no kid in atlanta knows who DM is? An Army of people around this world are dancing and having fun to this music.... If the kids in atlanta dont know who he is, does that mean he ainght keeping it real, or whatever?
I'm so tired of people like you hating for no reason, than beeing all hiphop and holdin it down.
I laugh at you...
steffen, norway
griffioen
what soul funk album from 1972 did he rip then?
salaam
i have to admit I love crazy, and alot of gnarls's other tracks, but i canot say that they are unique nor original in any sense, if any of You were 40 or older (i am not) you would know that gnarls barkley sounds almost identical to any other musicians in the mid to late 70s
mickey
See Barkley live... Coachella completely changed my mind about them. Probably the best show of the entire festival, they take you back to those grand ol' days of funk and soul.

different, jazzy n really, really cool the lyrics are brilliant and have meaning n are seriously insipring he isnt afraid to try new stuff and the results are excellent

Shouts from the US
Dangermouse has always been able to take something that everyone has seen or heard and from that transform it into something totally new that still has a sense of nostalgia.
Cee Lo , nephew of the G-Funk George Clinton, has brought the funk to the house once again.
Having the two together pushes them both to new limits. The songs are soulful yet bouncy.
Gnarls Barkley is like mixing timo maas with marvin gaye or BT with Al green...two greats you wouldn't expect to be together but glad they are!
Meezy
Actually "Dangermouse SUCKS" ... you need facts before you blast this cat. I was in the dorm room watching this cat bang out original hits. And everyone samples ... but his creative mind and original ear made "The Grey Album" work. Not anyone could have done that. The man deserves credit for his perserverance. He took some major risks to get into the music and it has worked wonders for him. It's straight up from the heart.
dudirty
got to respect it, keep the movement going
Phresh
Danger mouse is a super inovative, creative, and diverse. Ghetto pop life, one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time. He is the king of sampling and beatmaking. Heard he uses acid 4.0 on a standard PC. That's cool, really inspiring to rookie producers.
monkmaster
Ah great track lovin the soulful sounds....but, I think now we will see a real resurgence in soul and funk which will be a shame because I won't be the only one with the cool tunes anymore, does this mean I have to change my musical taste to keep ono step ahead of the music populists???
Dangermouse SUCKS
How the hell can you claim "Grey Album" quote: legendary? The man just combined the Beatle's "White Album" w/ Jay Z's vocals together, I mean, it does not take a genius to do that! He is all gimmick, wearing costumes, looking and acting the fool, sadly people believe the hype, saying he's the greatest producer of all time - the mother SAMPLES 99% of his material and I mean completely copies blatantly ... that song "Crazy" - that whole thing is SAMPLED from a 1972 soul record!!! There are some underrated, underground producers out there who ACTUALLY are REAL producers and are actually CREATIVE, and they don't have to wear a damn Mickey Mouse costume to get the white kids to buy their records. Dangermouse is riding his 5 minutes WAY TOO LONG! He is the Puff Daddy for white-boy hip hop. And yes - RACE does play a role! Ain't no kid from Atlanta know who the HECK Dangermouse is! CeeLo ... I'm so upset with you!
daniel hustwayte
I can not belive how good he is .so funky and cool .

dangermouse's production is unique without a doubt. cee lo on the other hand is very very shockingly talented. why? because he is by far one of the best rappers who is under rated. his vocal range is brilliant and im expecting him to combine both rapping and singing, we need that. i hope he reads this. peace!!

Oh, yeah, he's hot cause he works harder than anyone else. The man may not be tireless but when he gets tired you'd never know.

>> What do you think makes Dangermouse so hot?
Dangermouse is simply original and not afraid to discover new stuff, let alone to take any risc. Together with Cee Lo Green we get that killing "Crazy" song, with above of all mysterious and wonderfull lyrics that are yet recognisable in (almost) everyones life.

Love the Barkley track. Love Dangermouse since way back - and more importantly, love Lex. Truly class output and a unique approach to the industry.
DANNY-BOY
Dangermouse's sound manages to combine sounding old school and new and fresh at the same time, u got to say that gnarls barklay bass sounds so cool, like u would hear in a smokey old jazz club, mixed with a modern vocal. and demon days speaks for itself. lookin forward to much more!! chefs rule the world!
Karlos (Chichester)
Dangermouse has flare of a different kind.
Its hard to make a track that everyone loves!!
I look forward to hearing future work.
pasky
i loved their Beatles/ Jay z Mix!!!!

Simon, SA, Australia
Upbeat, soulful, catchy and fun. These days are so flat out we need a place to chill and reflect. This is Gnarls Barkley to me.
Richie
The beats...the beats
Vaughn
It's crazy (no pun intended!) how big this record is in the UK. It hasn't even made a blip over here (north america). I think its hot because Cee-Lo is the MFing man! People need to listen to his first solo album, its FIRE.
Craig Haggart
Dangermouse is fresh!!! He's doning things nobody else has the balls to do, he's dangerous! Bring on the tunes, can't wait to see what's next.
stu burton
pure funk with a positive slant
Laura

Joe
He's named after a cartoon super-hero - grounds enough I think!
RICHARD DOLBY
its the vibe of the track, something special comes along out of the blue every so often, and dangermouse has caught is perfectly
Wonderboy Chris
I am a Sound Engineer and Producer myself so I can answer this qestion. To produce, you need to be creative with what you hear. Some Producers can turn a good track into an amazing one. When I produce songs, Ideas pop into my head as I listen to a track and I try all the ideas I have to see what sounds best. Creativity, an open mind for music, basicaly push back the boundries....thats what makes a great track. Dont be influenced by what you hear eleswhere....go by your own thoughts and that of the bands/artist. Dangermouse is one of the few producers who can pull somthing amazing out of the hat....not just a rabbit!
Jez
he does what people dont do, but really well.
the sly fox
originality in beats and the balls to be different ! DM is the future !
