Pogues, Pogues, Pogues...
Nicola
I heard the purple song once and decided I needed to hear more. Finally managed to get the cd and I cannot get enough of it. I took the plunge and decided to see them with a friend at Rock City (first concert I've been to in over 10 years) and I loved it, I have never seen anything so exciting and full of engergy, my ears are still ringing and I'm still grinning from the experience. Nothing unusual about this except I'm a mother of 3 children, in my 30s, work for the local council and apart from my one good friend everyone else thinks I've gone mad. I don't mind, I know I'm right in thinking they are fantastic.
mags
You bet this group can make it in the UK. Their music is lively, different and full of joy and life. Bring it on and don't stop - Loving the music and wearing purple!
Jamie
If you like Go Go Bordello, u should def hear and see the Bagdaddies! I think they r excellent.

Stepan
Hi Im stepan formerly of one time Peel Faves Wedding Present spin off THe Ukrainians adn I think the climate is right for this kind of stuff, a new vibrant genre. Please also visit www.the-ukrainian.com for what is probably the most catchy England world cup anthem you will hear!
If you like it get back to me.
Matt
Dude...It just made it to the USA! I heard them on public radio and I just had to buy it!=)
Flip
I love it, gypsy punk is just ace, i think its a marmite thing though. You either love it or hate it.
john
Hell yes the band rocks and the more u listern to them the more u love it buy it ppl buy
Diane Zizka
Gypsy Punk can make it anywhere!! Start Wearing Purple!
nizloyd
It already has.You should go and see The Baghdaddies who've been kicking it to the masses for the last 10years and they're still as brilliant
Kriz
They're a great punk band, but a rubbish Gypsy band. Eugene is, however, a very interesting character - respect !
Chris
Gutted i missed them in Manc Last Night!!
The wonders of Mike Davies and the Lock-Up intoduced me to the fantastical nature of gogol!!
Big Sopes
This is premium music, and if you too can learn the songs, many people will want to be carnal with you for your premium sound!
Adunda Kev
Forget the labels and pigeon-holes. There has always been a need for manic music to go wild to. It's old meets new made by the socially displaced - an escape, a scream and a big fat raspberry to the complacent majority. I like to think of it as Zorba the Greek meets Bad Manners and shall be giving it the right old knees up at the Astoria tonight. Spread the beautiful insanity.
Lauren
Of course they can. The Glasgow gig last night was packed and the crowd surfing on top of the backing singer's large drum was so mad and unexpected it got everyone's attention. Even the security staff were amazed. They weren't sure whether to stop them or applaud them!
si
I saw them in leeds. The best live show ive ever seen. Gypsy punk is awesome
Luke
Saw them In Leeds last night, absolutely the best live gig I've ever been to, I've not seen the crowd react to a band like that in a while either - the room was buzzing with energy!!!
The Mighty Tramp
Check out our myspace page:

we're not gypsy-punk. But we're close. Fiddles, accordions and ukelele's.
George Formby meets Sonic Youth.
Thanks. Music For Chameleons.
The Mighty Tramp
Michael Angelo
Saw them in Oxford, bunch of overhyped rabble rousers playing bloody awful music. Compared to the Pogues no way they don't have any tunes
Leigh
I saw them last night and it was one of the best gigs ive ever been to!!!!!
Rhi
Absolutely. Start wearing purple is quite a bizare catchy tune. When it is played on the Radio I fall about laughing. For me this track is a must have.
Holly
How can it not? It's the first music I've heard in a long time with proper soul. I stumbled across this page whilst searching for more gypsy/roma music because I actually can't get enough - any ideas?
Richard
Gypsy punk? Why Why Why!!!! This is just great music that's honest adnd true to itself, no bullshit, lets not make it in to yet another genre, just appreciate it for what it is. Also check out Farmer's Market if you like this, not punk, just insane!
eleanor
Gypsy Punk can make it anywhere where there there's will to drink, dance and party hard. Does not leave many countries out, does it?
Jake
Yeah, the album is ace! Lyrics are a bit strange, epecially the one with the screaming girl... The 'start wearing purple' song on the albhum isnt as good as the one played on radio 1 though. BRING ON THE GYPSY PUNK.
Juergen
Baghdaddies - you're joking !!!
There is no punk at all in there !!!
Gogol rocks !!!
RJ
Us Gypsies need something like Gogol, bring it on! Something about them will appeal to everyone, Rom or not. I can't wait to see them!
con
i'm from a small 'red' town in colorado. i kno lots of people here that listen to gogol. if they can make it here, they can make it anywhere...i saw them at the warped tour in denver in '05, they were the best show there...
vitaliy
GB are going to be HUGE!
Mark
I saw these guys at a flogging molly show and Gogol stole the show. I have never felt live music like that ever before.
hellskull
gogol bordello = best live show, ever. ever. ever.
Tommy
Brit underground has an eclectic taste. The question is really can Gogol make it in the USA outside of NYC? I hope so, but most "scenesters" I know in the USA cling to set styles.
Tomi
Yes it can!!! i got their album and love it! its just the sort of thing England's punk scene needs right now!
SKIDS
I like it (for now). I liked Flogging Molly until the next albums sound like the previous, it's all one long Irish Spring soap commercial to me now. But so far I like Gogol
Elena.
Maybe if you'd sing more in Russian.
;)
Clough
There is already a band like this in the UK they are called the Baghdaddies! They Rock!
Lani Irving
Gypsy Punk rocks! Gogol Bordello are one of the most original and talented bands i have ever heard. JOIN GYPSY PUNK PARTY.
Pheege
Y'all would need to sit back and do some serious soul-searching if GB *couldn't* make it there in the UK! They're freakin' incredible! ;P
nat
yeah it can, i've seen them play and they are the future!!
Laura
Any type of music can make it in the UK providing it's promoted properly. But Gypsy Punk really does rock!!!
mike
gogol is awesome!
mjradio
yeah definitely..its great here in the US, so i'd say it'll the same for the UK as well
Marc MacInnes
I have recently bought the Gogol Bordello album (gypsy punk: underdog world strike) its amazing and probably one of the best albums of all time. personally i don't think "gypsy punks" won't make it. i don't think they get enough publicity but i really hope they do as they are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PJ
gypsy punk must represent the ultimate in subversive anticulture. it speaks for all those people who are different and open minded about their music. if it can overcome the mainstream Prejudices then it has every chance of 'making it'
seehar
hell yeh!
Zoe
Definitely! It's the Chumbawamba of the twenty first century. Bring on the madness, I've got my pink tutu and paras at the ready!:-)
rozie
They have Russian accordian players! How can they not make it!
Start Wearing Purple is ace!
dannii
start wearing purple is the best and always will be. I hear their song everyday on the Lock Up which pretty rocks. GO GYPSY PUNK!!!
georgia
i don't see why not....the crazy frog made it didnt he????
Tom
Naaaah UK isn't one for Heavy bands
JohnD
Absolutley, their live show is a sight to be seen and heard. A must see act in 2006!
gav
gypsy punk stinks.
Kaptin
Without a doubt. Start Wearing Purple was one of the heaviest tunes of last year. Like what I've heard from the rest of the album too. Gutted to have missed them in Bristol when they played. Long live gypsy punk!
